The unit features an intuitive slide-out battery door that provides easy and immediate access to the batteries, as well as a safety mechanism that ensures the unit cannot be closed without the proper installation of the batteries.
This easy-to-install alarm is suitable for all living areas and comes with a 7-year life warranty and a 5-year limited warranty. The Kidde 9CO5-LP will alert you and your family with a loud warning signal when elevated carbon monoxide levels are detected in your home, even during power outages when AC-only units are not providing protection.
The alarm uses an electrochemical sensor to continuously monitor carbon monoxide levels. When carbon monoxide is detected, it will trigger a distinct pattern of four short beeps, followed by five seconds of silence, then four more short beeps, accompanied by a flashing red LED light. This cycle will repeat for four minutes and then change to one cycle per minute until the device is reset or the carbon monoxide is eliminated. The red LED light will also pulse to indicate the presence of carbon monoxide until the device is reset or the gas is removed from the surrounding area.
When there is no carbon monoxide present, a green LED light will flash every 30 seconds, indicating that the alarm is properly functioning and receiving power.
The Kidde 9CO5-LP unit comes with three AA batteries and features an easy installation process, requiring no wiring. It can be conveniently installed on a wall or placed on a tabletop, making it portable and suitable for use in various living areas. The device is designed to provide protection during power failures, as it operates on the included 2-AA batteries.
The alarm is equipped with several user-friendly features, including a test-hush button that allows you to test the battery operations and temporarily silence the low battery chirp warning. Additionally, the peak level memory feature records the last time carbon monoxide was detected or when the unit was last tested.
For optimal safety, it is recommended to install a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector on every level of your home and near bedrooms to help protect your family from the dangers of fire and poisonous gas. The Kidde 9CO5-LP is UL certified and comes with a 10-year limited manufacturer's warranty, ensuring reliable and long-lasting protection.
