This device is powered by a 10-year lithium battery, eliminating the need for battery replacement and ensuring reliable detection even during a power failure.
The smoke detection feature utilizes ionization sensing technology to detect invisible fire particles, while the carbon monoxide detection is achieved through an electrochemical sensor. When either a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide event is detected, the Kidde alarm will sound an 85-decibel alarm and provide voice alerts to warn occupants. For smoke or fire, the voice alert will announce "Fire! Fire!", and for carbon monoxide, the alert will state "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!". Additionally, the unit will flash a red LED in sync with the voice alarm.
Furthermore, the Kidde combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm is equipped with a Smart-Hush button, which allows users to silence the unit for approximately 8 minutes in case of nuisance or false alarms, such as those caused by routine cooking or shower steam. This feature helps prevent unnecessary disruptions while maintaining the overall safety of the system.
When the smoke alarm has reached the end of its lifespan, the detector will announce "Replace Alarm!" to inform the user that it's time to replace the unit. This ensures continuous protection and early replacement before the alarm becomes obsolete.
