Equipped with self-testing components, this device is always checking its own operation to ensure it functions as expected, although a manual push test is still recommended on a weekly basis.
Powered by your home's 120V AC wiring, the alarm also features a 2-AA battery backup to maintain functionality during power outages. When smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide is detected, the device emits an 85-decibel alarm and voice alerts, announcing "Fire!" or "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!" accordingly. Additionally, the alarm will announce "Replace Alarm!" when it reaches the end of its lifecycle.
Three LED indicators provide visual status monitoring: a green light signifies proper operation, amber indicates a fault, and red alerts to the presence of smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide. The Smart-Hush button allows you to temporarily silence the alarm for approximately 8 minutes, which can be useful when cooking or showering triggers the detector.
