The device's photoelectric sensor technology is designed to detect visible fire particles associated with smoldering fires, while the electrochemical sensor is responsible for detecting carbon monoxide. In the event of a fire or carbon monoxide hazard, the Kidde smart combination alarm will sound an 85-decibel alarm and provide a clear voice alert, announcing "Fire! Fire!" or "Warning! Carbon Monoxide!", ensuring that you and your family are promptly notified.
To ensure continuous protection, the Kidde smart combination alarm is hardwired to your home's 120V AC power supply and features a built-in lithium battery backup that lasts the full 10-year lifespan of the alarm, eliminating the need for battery replacement.
The device's WiFi-enabled technology allows for real-time notifications to be sent to your smartphone, as well as to the devices of your friends and family, including the pet sitter, in the event of a smoke, carbon monoxide, or air quality hazard. The Kidde app provides a user-friendly interface for monitoring your home's air quality, including levels of harmful chemicals known as Total Volatile Organic Compounds (TVOCs) that can come from cleaning products and paint.
Setting up the Kidde smart combination alarm is a straightforward process – simply download the Kidde app, scan the QR code at the back of the device, and you're ready to go. You can also use voice commands to check the connection and status of your detector by pairing it with your Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and select iPhone and Android smart devices.
The LED ring-light indicator on the device provides a visual cue to the unit's operational status, with red indicating a smoke, fire, or carbon monoxide hazard, amber signaling an operating error, and green denoting normal operation. The Test-Hush button allows you to silence temporary nuisance alarms, test the unit's functionality, and silence a low battery or end-of-life chirp (up to 24 hours at a time for a maximum of 7 days).
For added safety, the Kidde smart combination alarm is capable of hardwired interconnection to other select Kidde alarms, enabling whole-home activation – when one alarm sounds, they all do. The device is UL Listed with a 10-Year limited manufacturer warranty on the alarm only (not a battery performance claim), with the warranty beginning when the alarm is powered on. If the installation date is unknown, it is recommended to assume that replacement is needed.
